Hearing loops are one type of assistive listening system used in public places with audio amplification. They bring sound directly into a listener’s telecoil-enabled hearing aids, cochlear implant, and bone-conductive devices, improving clarity and understanding.
Loops can be life-changing, allowing full communication and participation at work, school, churches, concert halls and other venues. Yet, many public spaces still don’t have hearing loops or other assistive listening systems, despite ADA requirements for accessibility for people with hearing loss.
Through education and advocacy, GITHL promotes hearing loops and ADA compliance in Contra Costa, Southern Solano and Eastern Alameda counties creating accessible and inclusive spaces for people with hearing loss.
