The telecoil is a small copper winding placed in a hearing aid or cochlear implant. The orientation of the telecoil within the device determines how well it performs in certain applications – say a hearing loop versus a telephone. See our downloadable pamphlets on “Telecoil Programming Recommendations” and “A Guide to Understanding Hearing Loops.” And here is a 6m14s video from Dr. Cliff Olson on “The Benefits of a Hearing Aid Telecoil (T-coil) for Wireless Connectivity in a Public Venue.”
